To the House...

You'll probably arrive from Cagliari or its Elmas-airport.

Using GoogleMaps, find and follow the Strada Statale 125 for Muravera.
Cross the village and you'll find the SS 387 and the road sign for San Vito.
Next, drive and let yourself be guided by these pictures...

That's it, you're already in SV, you just took a right turn
and you are crossing now an old stone bridge,
go straight ahead...

See the plastic red chairs outside that bar ?

The via Galilei is now in front of you...

On your right hand, the main street, via Nazionale,
in front of you, via Galilei, it's the good one.

# 1 is just up the street on the right side...

Is there a parking space ?

Alas, if you look today for all this lush green thing...
it's all over now !
- "Some like it concrete"
You should have bought that land last year, folks !

Here you are in the old SV area, at 1, via Galiei.
in front of you is the old property's main door...

Grain Mill & Courtyard

The mill is certainly the most interesting part of the property...
maybe because it is the only one that escaped to Aunty's modernizing fury.

The inside surface is 150 sqm - 4 to 6 meters high - courtyard around 180sqm.

Since September 2009, when the neighbour bought the land strip along the wall,
the courtyard has lost what I called the "forest"
- (still visible in the slideshow).

The oldest grinding machine. Originally they were two on the same platform,
still resting on cast iron fluted columns.

This door, closed since the 60s, allowed the customers coming on foot from the back
street to have their wheat grinded in order to make their weekly bread
at home.

This is what the 'wild forest' looked like, before it was destroyed and replaced by, well... concrete!

Specifications :- Price Range : 110,000 € courtyard included.
- Location : Italy, south-easthern Sardinia, San Vito (Cagliari).

- Age of the building : probably early 1800.

- Floors : ground floor, double access (via Galilei and vicolo Municipio).
Inside - An open space of 150 sq. m. including a room of 15 sq. m.
Ceiling 5 to 6 meters high. No basement in these old houses.

The original mechanical and electrical machinery could still be called
into action.

Outside
- A 180 sq. m. courtyard. (No permission for extensions or
swimming pool).

Development Ideas :
The old mill (150 sqm) and its courtyard (180sqm) can be easily
separated from the main house but, whatever your goal is, the restoration won't be a joke.

- If the old machinery scares you, then you can sell it or throw it away in order to obtain

a large open space for your holidays. Opening a restaurant would be another possibility,
especially because the village only offers one!

- Otherwise, consider you could buy the mill, rescue the machinery
and create a museum out of it. The Region Sardinia may allocate
grant money
to enhance such a cultural structure that could be a
strategic move to develop tourism in this area.

A Few Maps...

The livable area is composed of 3 buildings :
#1 (110 sqm), #2 (100 sqm), and #3 (60+60 sqm),
around the central garden.

The old mill (150 sqm/75000€) and its courtyard (180sqm/30000€)
can be easily separated from the main
house.

How to restore a vintage steamer trunk

Trunk restoration is a combination of wood working, metal
craft and leather work, so it helps to have some experience
in all three fields. The hardest part of the entire project is in
the preparation of the piece. Removing the old material
covering (if it has one), stripping the paper lining and removing
all of the old leather accoutrements equals roughly 60% of the work that goes into it, with leather
fabrication and sanding taking up the rest.
There are three approaches you can take when performing your restoration...
